Charity Haircut in Memory of Close School Friend
Generous Brentwood Preparatory School pupil Aoife Burke is cutting her impressively long hair for charity and helping to raise money and awareness in memory of someone close to her heart.
Aoife, who is in her last year at the Prep School, will say goodbye to at least 12 inches of her beautiful mane and head into spring with a fresh new look. Her luscious locks, to be cut on Friday 17th February, will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. All proceeds raised through Aoife’s JustGiving page will also be donated to the incredible research the Little Princess Trust does for better and kinder treatments into childhood cancers.
This incredibly selfless act is in memory of Aoife’s friend, Aaron, a fellow Prep pupil who tragically died last year. Aaron was loved by all and Aoife knew Aaron from their previous school before he joined the Preparatory School in Year 3.
Ten-year-old Aoife, after hearing about the Little Princess Trust commented:
“I want to grow my hair and donate 12/13” of my hair so that a wig can be made for a child suffering with cancer. I miss my friend Aaron very much and I wish he was here to see this.”
With her fundraising target of £250 already exceeding £2,300, Aoife has been delighted with the support from all so far and Sabrina Burke, Aoife’s mum said: “Thank you so much again for all support and from the school too, it has been an emotional time with the kindness of people to such a worthy cause.”
We know that Aoife will rock a shorter hairdo and we look forward to seeing the results! If you would like to sponsor Aoife, please go to her JustGiving page ‘Aoife’s Hair Raising Adventure on Friday 17th February 2023!’.
