Sixth Form Co-Curricular

Great Britain’s Double Olympian, Sam Ward, spoke to this year's Lower Sixth cohort today to offer advice from his scintillating career and highlight key messages and skills required to succeed.

Addressing students in the Wessex Auditorium, Sam spoke openly and honestly about his journey through hockey and the resilience required to thwart many injuries and overcome a plethora of hurdles in order to achieve his ultimate status as an international sportsman.

Sam’s story offered many an insight into his journey to become an Olympian as well as the horrifying injuries sustained along the way, including the injury to his eye in 2019 which for most, would have been career-ending. His unique journey highlighted many skills that our Sixth Form students can utilise in their journey through our three Sixth Form pathways. Students thoroughly engaged in Sam’s story and showed great excitement about the possibility of Sam’s hockey journey continuing into the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
