The Why
Dear all,
Recently, I had the great honour of speaking to Upper Sixth leavers, many of whom were former pupils at the Prep. During my preparation, I came across a quote from Mark Twain that resonated with me and truly captures the essence of life’s journey. To paraphrase Twain, we all find our true purpose at different times, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.
The students I addressed will soon embark on their next chapter, and only a few may have figured out their “why” – the reason that drives them. Indeed, how do any of us truly identify our “why”? My best guess is it would be living a full life filled with experiences and maintaining a willingness to try new things.
Life’s journey is not a race, and we must remember that finding our true purpose takes time. So let’s embrace every experience and opportunity that comes our way, and trust that our “why” will reveal itself in due course.
With all of this in mind, our much anticipated Enrichment Week 2024 is only a matter of weeks away and maybe, just maybe, one or two of our pupils might start formulating their ‘’why’’.
Have a great Bank Holiday weekend when it arrives
