Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated Head of Year to lead a Year Group in the Lower Sixth into Upper Sixth carousel as a key member of the Pastoral Team and actively promote the wellbeing and personal and academic development of each individual in the Year Group.

The Head of Year will oversee the progress of students throughout the Lower and Upper Sixth in a two-year cycle. They will also teach around eighteen 45-minute lessons per week.

The successful candidate will work closely with Heads of Year, Heads of Department, and the SENDCo as a member of the Middle Leadership ‘First Team’. They will work with the Director of Sixth Form on the strategic development and implementation of initiatives in the Sixth Form; lead a team of tutors in the Year group, ensuring high-quality pastoral care, clear communication between students, parents and staff, and support the professional development of colleagues. As well as contributing to the annual strategic plan, the Head of Year will lead Year Group Assemblies and support Chapel services.

Brentwood School has its own pay scale that is significantly above the maintained sector and we also have a range of subsidised staff accommodation that may be available for the successful applicant should they need to relocate.

Applications can be submitted through the TES website, alternatively, applicants who do not have a TES account should use the relevant Interactive Recruitment Form on this page. The School reserves the right to change these dates, and to close the vacancy at any time.

Brentwood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
