Brentwood School’s Senior Public Speaking team are through to the National Finals of the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition to be contested in Nottingham in May.

The team, made up of Alice Grundy as Main Speaker, Hassan Bajwa as Chairperson, and Joel Runevic as Vote of Thanks, progressed through to the Finals following an emphatic win in the Regional round held at New City College in Redbridge.

Despite impressive opposition, the team, who delivered their highly sophisticated and eloquent presentation on the importance of modern feminism in front of an enthusiastic audience, were unanimous winners. Seventeen-year-old Alice was awarded the prize for Best Speaker.

The Rotary Youth Speaks Competition is a well-established and successful competition organised and promoted by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.  It is a four-stage competition, which is designed to support and encourage the development of effective communication skills.

Brentwood School has an impressive record in the competition having won the National Senior title in 2013.
